Audi releases special Coupe and Roadster editions of TT

The prestigious car manufacturer Audi has just released two special edition versions of its most famous sports car, the TT. Its new 272PS Roadster and Coupe versions will be available in limited numbers.

These cars are based on the standard TTS model but do include a number of cosmetic and equipment upgrades. Among the features that the cars come with is the option to get the Coupe in Nimbus grey or the Roadster in Imola yellow. As well as the new colours available, other exterior features include a rear spoiler, that is a nod to that of the TTS RS, and its five-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels.

As any Audi driver would expect, the car’s interior is a fabulous showcase of style. It comes with Impulse grey leather upholstery with ‘baseball’ stitching in either grey or yellow. To show off the exclusivity of the vehicle, the door insert features a small plaque stating “1 of 500”.

The Coupe comes with a 2.0 litre TFSI engine and peak torque of 350 Nm, which is then linked with six-speed manual or six-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmissions. If the owner opts for the latter then they can go from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 5.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph, while gaining 36.7 mpg economy potential and CO2 emissions of 179 g/km.

In terms of equipment features, there are a number of accessories for entertainment and driver aids that can be included.

To make your drive easier, the limited edition comes with a sat-nav, cruise control, rear parking sensors, light and rain sensors and an interior light package so you can easily see into the footwells and interior door handles.

You and your passengers can enjoy a number of entertainment additions such as a bluetooth mobile interface and an Audi Music Interface iPod connection from which you can listen to songs through the BOSE sound system upgrade.

Audi released the new cars as the TT, which was unleashed on the world in 1998, achieved the milestone of a total of 500,000 sales across the globe. As a result, 500 of the Coupe and Roadster limited edition models will be made available for purchase, which includes the 120 that will be based in the UK.

Prices for the new Coupe start at £38,860 and £42,320 for the Roadster edition. Additionally, for £2,815 more, drivers can get an extra £5,665-worth of style and equipment upgrades.

The TT was originally released as a Coupe in 1998 but its Roadster version hit the market in 1999. It achieved top standards in technology and design with the 2003 debut of its downsized turbo-charged engines, six-speed S Tronic Transmission and quattro all-wheel drive for its more high end models.

Then in 2006 it released its second generation model, which saw up to 90 kilograms taken off the total weight of the vehicle with the predominantly aluminium Audi Space Frame body. The TT could show off even higher performance while lowering fuel consumption.

Sometime next year, Audi also plans to release a new, lighter, faster and more efficient version of its TT. It is rumoured to debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
